SEWER CLEANING

The Hampton Township DPW and Dependable Sewer are continuing to do sewer cleaning and televising of our sewer system.  Please note that you may experience some water splashing out of your toilet and an odor if your vent pipe is plugged so it is recommended that you keep your toilet seat cover down.

We understand that this cleaning process may be an inconvenience, but cleaning and assessing the sewer system not only helps maintain the system but also helps locate areas that may be plugged. By identifying and fixing known problems, we are hopefully preventing future issues such as major back-ups of sewage in basements.

Center Road, Essexville, Michigan 48732, to consider an amendment to the text of the Township Zoning Ordinance (Ordinance 36A)  to further regulate and expand the type of adult foster care facility that can be permitted pursuant to a special use permit within the general business district.  This would be specifically a modification to Chapter 8 of the Zoning Ordinance and an amendment to Section 8.02(C)(2) which currently allows the Planning Commission to grant permission for an adult foster care “congregate” facilities.  This Amendment would remove the congregate designation and allow the Planning Commission to grant special use permit for all adult foster care facilities within this zoned district.  By Ordinance and definition under the State Licensing Regulations, a congregate facility has 20 or more patients. There are also adult large group homes and small group homes that could have patients of 3-12 and 12-20 which would now be permitted within this zoned district.

You are welcome to attend and express your opinions at the hearing or you may express your views in writing to be mailed via first class or dropped off at the Township offices between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.  All communications must be received at the Township offices prior to the date of the hearing.

HAMPTON TOWNSHIP ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS

RUTH NOBLE - CHAIRPERSON                  KIMBERLY SPYHALSKI
CRAIG HOWELL - VICE CHAIRPERSON      STEVEN WISNIEWSKI
ANTHONY BREY - SECRETARY

Legal notice for Appeal No. 21-3 Applicant: Jere and Joyce Brunette

Regarding Parcel No.: 070-023-300-540-00 An Appeal has been made to this Board by:

Jere and Joyce Brunette, owner of property generally located on the west side of Ledyard Road, north of Center, and is north of a home that is  immediately  north of the  Bay Archery Store (which is currently a vacant lot) legally described as follows:

COM 553 FT W OF N & S 114 LI & 217.10 FT N OF N LI OF CENTER AVE, TH N 173 FT, TH W 182.99 FT, TH S 173 FT, THE TO BEG. PART OF LOT 9, SEC 23 T14N R5E

The Applicants are requesting that the setback of an indoor archery range be 37 feet from the   northerly property line instead of the required 100 feet. Pursuant to Ordinance 36-A of the

Charter Township of Hampton Zoning Ordinance, as amended, Section 8.02(B)(8) permits an indoor archery range in a B-1 General Business District provided that all buildings shall have a minimum setback of 100 feet from any R Residential District. The parcel of property immediately to the north of this parcel of property is zoned residential and therefore a 100 foot separation is required. The Applicant believes a hardship exists in that they cannot meet the 100 feet setback and they are therefore requesting a variance of 62.5 feet which would then place the edge of the building 37.5 feet from the adjoining property zoned Residential.

On Thursday, June 17, 2021, at 7:00 p.m. a public hearing will  be held  in the  Board Room (or Hall depending on COVID restrictions) of the Hampton Township Administrative Office at 801 W Center Ave., Essexville, Michigan 48732, giving you the opportunity of having your opinion recorded on this appeal. You may appear, authorize others to represent you, or you may express your view in writing.

All communication ns must be received by the Clerk's office on or before the date of the hearing by 3:30 p.m. The variance request may be viewed at the Clerk's office Monday-Friday 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 am or 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., excluding holidays. Variances or modifications have no baring on private restrictions.

Pursuant to the ADA, individuals with disabilities may request aids/service s within a reasonable time period to participate in the hearing.  Contact the Charter Towns hip of Hampton  by writing or calling: Fran Dewyse,  Charter Township of Hampton  Clerk , 801 West  Center  Ave., Essexville, Michigan 48732 or call 989 -893 -754 1.
