Large Item Permit Required for Over-Sized Items
Large item permit can be used at any time throughout the year and will expire on 12/31 of the year purchased. Each permit is good for one trip only, but multiple permits may be purchased and used throughout the year. You must purchase the yearly pass before purchasing the one-time use permits. Available at the Hampton Township Administrative Office at 801 W. Center Road.
Recycling
The Township provides recycling bins at the Transfer Station on Knight Road for Residents to deposit their recyclable materials.
Recycling materials include: newspaper, phone books, magazines/junk mail, mixed office paper, corrugated cardboard, glass, aluminum, tin, and plastics. (for a more detailed list, contact the Administrative Office at 989-893-7541)
No Styrofoam in allowed in the recycle bins. The Township will be fined and the recycling service discontinued.
Compact cardboard boxes or crushed/flattened

Michigan law, specifically Public Act 34 of 2004, effective November 1, 2004 amends the list of materials banned from landfills to include beverage containers and whole tires. The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality website details the regulations.
Brush Chipping
This service is intended only for pruning, thinning and trimming of trees, shrubs and bushes. This service is not a tree removal service therefore, brush left after a commercial tree service will not be picked up.
Brush Chipping will begin in April and the last chipping will be in October. Chipping will begin on the 1st Tuesday of every month. (weather permitting and township emergencies take priority)
Brush MUST be out before the 1st Tuesday of the month.
The route may change each month.
Brush not put out in time will be left for the following month.
There is no list that you need to be put on.
10 minutes MAXIMUM per location.
Nothing larger than a 4" diameter.
Stacked neatly with all ends facing the road.
Vines, stumps and root balls can't be run through chipper & will be refused.
